EPA: Keep the pressure on major air pollutors

This week, Environment Texas and dozens of public health, environmental justice and clean air advocates from across the country sent a letter to EPA asking that they keep the pressure on major air polluters that illegally release hazardous chemicals into our communities.

Yesterday, Environment Texas held a news conference to highlight local support for the EPA's Clean Power Plan. Here are the prepared remarks of our speakers, including me, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, businessman and Earth Day Texas founder Trammell Crow, and Melissa Ashmore of Interfaith Power and Light.

Last year at this time, the toxic algae bloom in Lake Erie caused nearly half a million people in and around Toledo, Ohio, to be without safe drinking water. Clean water from our taps is something that many of us take for granted, but if we don’t protect our water sources — like the residents of Toledo discovered — we won’t be able to take it for granted anymore.
