Aggressive local policies for rebates on green-energy installations such as solar panels and car chargers are part of the story, but Jill Capotosto of Environment Texas Research and Policy Center says it’s also the business community plus local residents that are building a reputation for San Antonio as an environmentally-friendly city.

“Well, I certainly know that the City of San Antonio is very interested in electric vehicles,” Capotasto said. “Actually, San Antonio is a model city when it comes to EVs. Its system for getting permits for EV chargers in single-family residences is the fastest in the country, and it’s one of the few cities in the United States with a battery-electric vehicle in the Car Share fleet.”
